    SCROLL TO ASSEMBLE

A sentence is really three chunks, assembled

Say you want to express, "To be honest, I'm not really sure how to put it." A native speaker doesn't translate word by word — they just pull out three ready-made chunks.

    To be honest,
    I'm not really sure
    how to put it.
    阿塊

All three are chunks native speakers use every day. Memorize them as whole units, pull them out when you speak, and stop assembling sentences on the fly — that's the chunk method.

    WHY CHUNKS

Still translating in your head when you speak?

Most learners get stuck mid-translation, and that's what makes speech halting. Chunks are the everyday units native speakers actually think in — once you learn a phrase like "By the way" , you understand why native speakers say it that way, and your fluency follows.

Learn chunks as single units, following the same natural path children take to acquire their first language — a feel for the language grows on its own.

    Faster Progress

Cut out the mid-sentence translation step, and your mouth gets used to speaking English directly — the difference in response speed is huge.

I really like being able to listen back to my own recording — you can hear how well you actually did. Would be even better with a pronunciation-check feature.

This is probably the first time I've ever left a review on the App Store on my own. The categories, phrases, and example sentences are all incredibly useful. I'm currently living in the US, and before parties I come here to practice a few lines of small talk to build my confidence speaking English. I love the recording feature — understanding and speaking really are two different things!

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

What does learning English in chunks mean?

Chunks are the fixed strings native speakers store and produce as one unit, like “give me a hand”. Learning in chunks means memorising at that size instead of memorising words and assembling them under time pressure — remove the assembly step and you stop translating as you speak.

Can it really work without memorising vocabulary?

It isn't that vocabulary stops mattering — it's that the default unit changes. Words remain the basis for reading, but if the goal is speaking without stalling, the same hours spent on chunks pay back far more: corpus research puts close to 60% of native speech as prefabricated strings rather than sentences built on the spot.

    Is it free?

The free version gives you every core feature — topics, chunks, example sentences, recording, and shadow-reading are all included. Subscribing removes the daily practice limit and unlocks more topics.

How much time does it take per day?

Two minutes. Listen to one line, repeat it, record yourself once — that's a full practice session. Easy to fit into a commute or before bed.

    What level is this for?

Topics are split into three levels — easy, medium, hard — from basics like airport immigration and hotel check-in to job interviews and work conversations. If you can understand English but struggle to speak it, this is where you'll notice the biggest gains.

    What is shadow-reading?

Listen to a line, repeat it immediately, then record yourself and compare it to the native audio to fix your intonation and stress. It's the fastest way to build muscle memory in your mouth.

Will new topics keep being added?

Yes. There are 20+ topics already, with more added based on user feedback and current events. Can't find the scenario you want to practice? You can also use AI to generate your own chunks.
